Karen Russell impresses me as more than a pretty face. After reading this WND article, I am impressed by her faith. What caught my attention was the following quote:
"It's pretty difficult to define one's faith in Jesus when faith in and of itself is something that is unseen. To put it simply though, I believe that there is no sunshine, rain, earth or breath without Him. It is always hard for me to listen to people who do not believe in the Bible. That is like doubting that all-powerful God, the Alpha and Omega (Beginning & End) is not powerful enough to protect the 'word of life,' which is mankind's map to heaven. I have faith that the same God that created heaven and earth, rain, thunder, lightning and mankind is powerful enough to safeguard the Bible."

That is something I have said for years. I am so relieved that someone else sees it the same way. I pray the Lord uses this young woman even more to proclaim His Gospel to the world.

European Doubts About a Brazilian Footballer
What I find funny about this article: Robinho career at crossroads, is the insistence that European soccer is superior to Brazilian soccer. Some questions I have are why do European teams use so many Brazilians if they are so superior? And explain FIVE WORLD CUPS for Brazil despite FIFA trying to stack the table for Europe consistently? (Case in point: since Brazil won it's fifth World Cup, FIFA decided the champion no longer would be automatically entered into the following World Cup. Would they have done that if Germany had beat Brazil? I doubt it very seriously!)

Vamos nessa Brasil!!

WND: GIs can be forced to wear U.N. beret
WorldNetDaily: GIs can be forced to wear U.N. beret. Below is the oath that soldiers take to become soldiers:

CITE: 10 USC Sec. 502 01/03/95
EXPCITE: TITLE 10 - ARMED FORCES
Subtitle A - General Military Law

PART II - PERSONNEL

CHAPTER 31 - ENLISTMENTS

HEAD Sec. 502. Enlistment oath: who may administer

STATUTE Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following
oath:

''I, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

So help me God!"

-------------------

This oath may be taken before any commissioned officer of any armed force.

Notice how the oath states: "that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic..." That is the aim- we have a military to protect this nation, not to do the bidding of an anti-American world body that is run by the sleaziest of politicians. (See the oil for food scandal and the pro-abortion, pro-feminism arms or the UN, the coddling of terrorists and the anti-Israel efforts)

Here is the oath for a commanding officer in the UN:

"I solemnly affirm to exercise in all loyalty, discretion and conscience the functions entrusted to me as a member of the international service of the United Nations, to discharge those functions and regulate my conduct with the interest of the United Nations only in view, and not to seek or accept instructions in respect to the performance of my duties from any government or other authority external to the organization."

These two oaths are specifically opposed to each other. The US military oath demands allegiance to the USA and it's Constitution. The UN oath demands denying your Sovereign nation and obeying the world body.

This is a BAD idea. The USA should have nothing to do with the United Nations.

Christmas Constitutional, ACLU Threats Toothless
According to an Agape Press article, Christian Leaders have told schools thatChristmas is Constitutional and ACLU Threats are Toothless.

The best part, to me, is where Gary Bauer of the Campaign for Working Families "...is encouraging more believers to join the resistance and says each must 'persistently and consistently, do everything from saying "Merry Christmas" to everybody we run into, to -- more seriously and specifically -- ensuring that the local government officials, whether in the schools or anywhere else, don't get away with trying to take Christ out of Christmas.'

This, along with things like the best-selling book "Persecution" by David Limbaugh, seems to be making some difference as I noted in my recent "Merry Christmas" post.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! This year more people seem to be in that spirit. Despite all the happy holidays wishes, there seem to have been more "Merry Christmases" this year. That is great. Remember what it is all about: Jesus.

Our family tradition (four years now) is to read Luke 2.1-20:
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
"Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

The thing that irked me today was the history channel's crockumentary that tried to disprove the birth narrative in the Bible. Real gall on Christmas Eve. I have no respect for them anymore.

It doesn't matter, I still love Jesus! Even though his birth was not on December 25th, it is a good thing to celebrate this time of year. Happy birthday Jesus!

Saddam-ite dirtbags attack US soldiers. As far as I am concerned, the human feces being held in Cuba and other prisons should be torn in pieces until these attacks stop. Saddam should be dipped in battery acid and when we catch Bin Laden he should be tied to the end of an airplane and flown into the side of the Empire State Building- SPLAT!!

They could have supported the Conservative McClintock, but chose the liberal "Arnie" because he has a bigger name. He would also seek to change the Constitution for his own political gain. I would not vote for him or any other liberal. At that time I would vote for a third party candidate.

Boy gymnast wants to be on girls' team
18.12.04
Okay, this one looked like fun. A boy wants to be a gymnast and his school only offers a girls' team. So he does what thousands of girls have done since the 1970's: he tries to join the team that exists for the opposite gender.

I, for one, hope he wins out and can compete. Otherwise, girls should be banned from boys' sports.

Pastors found guilty of hating Muslims
Australia, Australia, Australia. Seems they have anti-Christ judges too. This specific court has ruled for islamic whiners "oh they said mean things about us..." over free speech for Christians. I trust the Christians will appeal and, hopefully, win this case.

I guess liberalism spans the globe. Political correctness handcuffs much of the western world. PC seeks to steal freedom from the free.

WorldNetDaily: Parents kicked out of 'gay day'

This is why I want to homeschool. A school in Massechuchetts sponsored this event and tossed two parents who attended and stated they should not come back or they would be "tresspassing." I would have told them that if I was not welcome there, my children would no longer attend.

Schools have too much authority. They are ripping off our children by teaching trash like this instead of the basics. It is time for a change!

No More Judgment?
The following is an excerpt from a comment board on the Christian Conservative blog. I liked the subject, and felt the Bible needed to be used in the argument. The Christian Conservative is right on target, but since he allows comments, he gets a bunch of diffrent perspectives. Many of them are NOT Biblical (like "jake" below):

God NO longer judge[s], and NEVER will judge humans for their sins ever again. Or was Isaiah on Prozac when he said God will remember their sins no more? Jesus fulfilled all the Law, all the Prophets, and all the Psalms (Luk 24.44). If he did not, then he lied, and we would still be living under the law.
...(edited for relevance)...
God dealt with sin two thousand years ago, and where there is NO law, there is no more transgression of the law. I know this is not the good news of the Gospel they talk about on TBN, but thank God for that.

In that case, there's an awful lot of verbiage wasted in the New Testament about judgment day . . .

"God NO longer judge, and NEVER will judge humans for their sins ever again. Or was Isaiah on Prozac when he said God will remember their sins no more? Jesus fulfilled all the Law, all the Prophets, and all the Psalms (Luk 24.44). If he did not, then he lied, and we would still be living under the law."

You forget the Scriptures in the New Testament that state many who will have no part in God's kingdom and others that say something like:

"And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment..." (Hebrews 9.27)

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5.10)

"But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." (2 Peter 3.7)

"Because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17.31)

and these (to cite a few): Matt 7:22; 11:22, 24; 12:36; 1 Thess 5:4; Heb 10:25; 2 Peter 2:9; 1 John 4:17.

Closing: Not all men are saved because Jesus came and delt with sin. Only those that "receive Him" are given the "right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name..." (John 1.12) And we must go through the Son to get to the Father (and heaven): "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14.6)
Pete

PS- Jesus fulfilled the Law enabling Him to be the perfect Sacrifice for those who would receive. He had to do what we could (or would) not. There is no contradiction here. In a total context it makes perfect sense.

UPDATE:
Further posts...

Michael
“In that case, there's an awful lot of verbiage wasted in the New Testament about judgment day . . .”

Not really, but the New Testament is NOT the Scriptures. It’s a debate about the Scriptures, which Jesus defined as the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms, which he came to fulfill, and had to fulfill by his death. There is not a single Law, Prophet or Psalm that was NOT fulfilled at the Cross or Jesus’ words that “it is finished” was not true. Whenever the NT writers refer to the Scriptures, they are referring to a passage in one of these three areas, and none of them called their writings the Scriptures. I think I would rather believe Jesus about what the Scriptures are, and I believe that he said it was fulfilled as he said he would come to do.

Find me ONE Scripture (as defined by Jesus) where any prophet foretold a time when God would judge the sin of the world, and then judge it again. It’s ALL fulfilled two thousand years ago by Jesus’ own testimony. None of them prophesied this, but I know Peter spoke of such a Gospel, but Paul never uttered any such a teaching.

In fact, you can read Paul, James and Peter, who uses the exact same symbols and come up with contrary Gospels. That’s what these guys had “bitter disputes” about. The law and grace and mixing the two. I believe the Scriptures, not Peter’s private interpretation of it. By his own admission, when Paul speaks these things “it is hard to understand”. Now wonder Christianity is such a confused mess, because people are trying to reconcile to opposite Gospels that contradicts each other.

Fact is, the prophets said God would judge the world once in Christ, and remember their sins no more. Believing anything less is a diminishing of the finished work of the Cross, and making Jesus a lair that “it is FINISHED.”
jake
____________________________________________________________
So you accept the New Testament where it speaks of Christ being the Messiah who would conquer sin, but you deny any other part that you don't like. Good job. (Not)

If you deny the New Testament as Scripture, you leave no reason to follow Jesus.

And since you like to quote this out of context jake, here is what Peter said in the Scripture: "So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position." (2 Peter 3.14-17) (NIV)

Peter did not say Paul was teaching diffrently, he said that Paul was teaching deeply and "ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." (as cited above)

Notice, Peter makes reference to Paul's writing as equal to Scripture. For a comparison: NASB- "which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction." KJV- "which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." ASV- "which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." Holman Christian Standard bible (HCSB)- "The untaught and unstable twist them to their own destruction, as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures."

Context, context, context. By your own favorite (it would seem) Scripture: Peter approves of Paul's message and equates in with Scripture.

Christmas Thoughts & Memories
Everytime I begin to feel in a Christmas mood, I end up thinking about Gabriel and Charisma, my nephew and niece. I miss their mommy so much it hurts. She was a better sister than I was a brother by far. I find I am not missing her less at all. I have better control of my emotions, but I have an empty spot in my heart.

I keep thinking about times I failed her, times I did not stand up for her like I should have. What makes it worse is that in similar times, she stood up for me and never forsook me. That makes it more difficult. She always celebrated Christmas with a joyful attitude. She was so giving.

One year I was jealous because she "only" gave me a shirt, while she gave our friend a jacket. I am so ashamed about that. Although I didn't tell her about my disappointment, I felt ashamed about it the next morning. She choose it just for me and I was being selfish. I did wear that shirt until it had holes in it. I ended up loving that shirt.

I remember giving her a Mitzpah Coin (broken in two halves) to her. She gave me one half and kept the other half. I wore that coin for five straight years. I have it on again, and do not plan on taking it off again. Rob- her husband, and my brother and friend, asked me if I wanted the other half back, but I asked him to give it to Charisma, my niece. She is so special to me- even more now.

Rob has been such a good friend and brother in this time. He has allowed me to share in all aspects of saying good-bye to Diane. We have grown closer over this past year and even more-so in the past few weeks. I thank God for what Rob meant to Diane, and even for what he means to me now. He could have excluded me from everything, but choose to honor Diane's and my commitment. He even challenged me to work on improving at the guitar. I am taking lessons (finally) to improve my timing and rhythmn.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I intend to celebrate with the spirit that Diane celebrated it. With joy and giving. I will make this a good Christmas.

American Family Association - AgapePress news

This AgapePress News article shows the determination of one 16 year old high school student to get planned parenthood off her campus. My prayer is that Claire is successful.

NHL- To Cap or Not To Cap
I am hoping this spells progress in the NHL Lockout. The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup and I was hoping they would make a bid for a second. With no hockey (NHL-style), that cannot happen.

It's funny, the players and owners are always represented in these matters, but the fans are left out in the cold. At least there is the NHLFA (National Hockey League Fan's Association) to provide some voice for the fans!

And We Thought California Was Liberal
The Canadian Supreme Court has unanimously stated that it is legal for two men to marry or two women to do the same. That does not make it law, however. Like the USA, Canada has a Supreme Court to judge according to the law. Unfortunately, like in the USA, the Canadian "Justices" (and in this case I use the term loosely) are legislating from the bench in true "Rowe vs. Wade" form. The Canadian people will probably vote on whether to violate God's law and the rules of nature in the future. I hope they choose to do the right thing since their courts could not. The Supreme Court of Canada is a clueless adn worthless as the Supreme Court of Florida and two-thirds of the Supreme Court of the USA.

Castro's Regime On It's Way Out?
Despite Benny Hinn's "prophecy" that Fidel Castro would die in the mid-90's, he lives on. However, Mr. Castro is getting old and has his 73 year-old brother as his heir-apparent. From one old-coot to another.

I have no respect for Castro and the commie dirtbags who support him. He is responsible for the deaths of many Cubans (as is typical for communists as they try to take and keep power- bloodbaths). Fidel Castro has South American friends in Chavez (Venezuela), Lula (Brasil- unfortunately) and Escobar (Chile)- they also are dirtbags for supporting Castro- especially Chavez.

However, this article sources the U.S. Interests Section Chief James Cason as saying Castro's reign of terror is coming to an end and that democracy is set to flourish. I hope that he is right. Castro has to go. He is an evil man. So is Chavez. So are all communist leaders (KIM Jong Il of Korea and HU Jintao of China are two prime examples).

May Castro go and freedom and safety return to Cuba.

Magazine Insert Irks Left and Pink Triangle Crowd
9.12.04

From an Agape Press article:
A church in Virginia recently released a paid magazine insert into The Washington Times and The Washington Post to tell people the truth about homosexuality.

BothSides Magazine is an outreach effort of Grace Christian Church of Woodbridge, Virginia. When the BothSides insert was placed in the November 19 issue of The Post, homosexual groups protested, saying the insertion amounted to the newspaper's endorsement. The newspaper disagrees, saying BothSides was a paid advertisement.

BothSides is dedicated to debunking the claim that homosexuality deserves civil rights status. The pastor, Derek Grier, is black and finds in unacceptable to compare the behavior of homosexuality with being black racially. I agree totally. I applaud the pastor and his church (Grace Christian Church of Woodbridge, Virginia) in their effort to bring the truth to the masses.

More Anti-Christian Events in School

From an Agape Press article:
Spring Grove Elementary School recently staged a holiday program that celebrated Hanukkah and Kwanzaa but excluded references to Christ and the Christmas story. School officials claim the multicultural concert, which also included references to Santa, was designed to be more inclusive of all holiday traditions and cultures. But attorney Andy Norman with the Alliance Defense Fund says the school engaged in illegal discrimination against Christians.

This paragraph says it all. In order to preserve a separation of church and state this school allowed a synagogue and state to be established and spiritist and state connection flourish. I wonder if they included a mosque and state connection?

The Constitution states (From The Legal Information Institute): Bill of Rights, Amendment I:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Congress cannot establish (notice it does not even mention favor) a religion, nor can it prohibit "the free exercise thereof." Unfortunately, what is done in the USA today is the state-sponsored favoring of humanism and secularism above religions and non-Christian religions over the Christian faith. Also, the courts (corrupt as they are), schools (as liberal and anti-God as they are) and much of the media and governmet often infringe on the Constitutional rights of Christians to exercise their (our) faith.

Also notice- the phrase "Separation of Church and State" does not exist in the Constitution of the United States. For a good read, pick up David Limbaugh's Persecution.

A Soul's Journey
5.12.04

I was listening to a small Baptist radio station and heard a song about a man who lost a close relative. He was sad but said that he would shake that person's hand again in heaven (boiling it down). I thought about how I felt about losing Diane and could relate. Shortly after, I began to think about how she was now and how she arrived in heaven. This is what I came up with:

As she felt her life on earth slipping away, she spoke to her husband Rob, her soulmate. "I'm ready to go now" she said. In a short time she allowed herself to breathe one last breath of the earth's poor offering of air. With that she closed her eyes.

In less than a second she opened her eyes again and saw Jesus. He was both a part of God and separate from Him in some unexplainable way. The Father said,"Diane, it is now time for your judgment." She thought herself unworthy of heaven, wanting to become undone in God's presence as Isaiah was. However, the Father said, I see no sin in you. Proceed to the Son. As she turned to face Jesus, He spoke to her. "Welcome my precious child. Diane, you now know your Father. You have done well in serving Me. Please enter into my kingdom."

As she entered this new place, it was so overwhelmingly bright- it made the sun seem dim. It was so bright, but it did not even cause her to squint her eyes. Immediately she felt no confines of flesh to hold back her desire to worship God. It became such a passion, like she had never known! Diane raised her arms and began to sing with a voice sweeter than she had ever heard. She began to dance in front of the Lord and to praise His name with more words than she had ever known before. She was, for the first time, unlimited.

The Lord revealed things to her in a personal way that she had always wondered, but even these things were much less important now. All she wanted to do was to be in His presence. She was greeted by her grandfather and grandmother in a glorious reunion. They showed her so much love that her whole difficult family life on earth paled in comparison: the good of this reunion was infinitely better than the bad of her family life was bad. Healing had come.

Diane thought back to her husband and children with love and looked forward to meeting them soon. Time meant nothing to her, the presence of the Lord overshadowed everything in such a wonderful, blessed way, the years would seem like seconds. No sorrow could enter her heart. No tears would ever again stain her face. She thought of her friends and the family God gifted to her for the last third of her life: Rob's parents and grandparents, brothers, and sister; her foster family; her Uncle Gene- the one family member who she felt cared; my wife, my girls and I; friends from church who were "adopted" family; the Hospice worker who took a special care for her; and others. She thought of them all with a deeper love than she ever had before and was grateful for them all. She did not remember any arguments or bad things, none of that mattered. She felt loved and at peace.

Now Diane continues to serve God in ways that we can only imagine. She sings, shouts, praises and worships continually with passion and without ceasing. It is what she wants to do. She is whole.

Diane remains an inspiration to those of us who knew her, and to some who have heard the testimonies. For me, I will never stop loving her, and I will never forget her. She is and forever will be my sister.

Diane's Guestbook
4.12.04
Click here to look at and even comment in Diane's guestbook. It's in her honor. I will never forget her and I hope more people learn about her through this guestbook.

I was just thinking when I went for a short walk before: November 29, 2004 was the worst day of my life by far. I am happy that God is the "Keeper of my Tears." On September 19, 1994 I wrote in my journal: "God is watching over you and cherishing and keeping all your tears."

At that time I was frustrated about being single with no wife in sight. (I actually married my wonderful wife about 10 years and 2 weeks later) But now those words have a much deeper meaning for me. God, by His grace, has given me a wife and children to keep me balanced during this time. Without them I don't think I would even want to go on. Maybe this is normal. I do not know. I just know I am totally flat right now. I will never forget Diane, nor will ever stop loving my sister.

Thoughts...
I have been feeling the sting of losing my dear sister and friend recently. I know she is in heaven with Jesus, but I miss her. I have cried more this past week than I did in my previous 36 years put together I think.

Frequently I remember things we did or places we went. I took for granted what she meant to me at times. I wish I could have some more time with her. She inspired me to change in many ways. She is part of the reason I could go to Brasil and meet my wife. I had no drive or courage before she taught it to me. I needed my sister. I still do. Heaven doesn't seem so far away now, but life has lost it's thrill.

Please, don't anyone email me and tell me I will get over it in time. I won't. She will always be a missing part to my life. I cannot replace her. I know her husband feels similar. Rob and I have become great friends, and I feel so bad for him and his kids. It was so difficult to hear Charisma crying out for her mommy. How does this feel to a one and a half year old? How will she remember her mommy?

I wish God would show me Diane in heaven for just a few seconds. That would help a lot. But since "we walk by faith, not by sight," I doubt that is a request He will grant. I can still hope and pray, but what about my motives? ("You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.")

All I know is that Jesus is faithful. Jesus é fiel.

Left Behind Author Slams Publisher
Tim LaHaye has criticized his publisher Tyndale House for putting out The Last Disciple, a book with an amillenial escatology. LaHaye clings to a non-Biblical pretribulational view. Actually, my studies lead me to believe that amillenial escatology has some valid points in the probability that some escatological passages were fulfilled in the first century.

I do not believe, though, that the millennium has begun or completed yet. I believe that the key verse for pretribulational escatology is Daniel 9.27 with an interpretation that "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering.." (NASB) speaks of the anti-Christ. However, in context, the covenant is confirmed by the Messiah and is cut off upon His death on the cross. Further the sacrifice is no longer valid or necessary. If that is the Messiah, the pretribulational view is sunk. Unfortunately so is my former position of a prewrath view as normally defined. I believe that there is no justification for a view of a seven-year Tribulation. But I do still believe that Matthew and I Thessalonians 4.13-18 along with other places in Daniel and Revelation paint a picture of a rapture before the wrath of God is poured out on the earth.

So, in my opinion, and from my study of the topic of escatology, I believe Tim LaHaye is more off-target than Hank Hanegraaff is. And sorry Mr. LaHaye, no monopoly on your poor exegesis of Scripture from Tyndale House.

I do intend to buy a copy of The Last Disciple and have read every book in the Left Behind series. It's decent fiction.
