Obama shows his ignorance concerning the Bible and the Biblical Christian faith. The result of ignorance like his is separation from God. He tries to sound wise and intelligent, but is neither.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

There are good Constitutional and legal reasons why abortion should be outlawed (dependency is not sufficient grounds to deny one their rights, for example).

However, are you suggesting that all of God's laws should also be State laws? Should unscriptural divorce be criminalized (including interfaith marriages)? Should we enact "Blue laws" that make it illegal to work on the Sabbath (and keeping the Sabbath holy is one of the commandments in terms of honoring God)? I don't think we'd want to enact laws regarding slavery to more closely adhere to the Deuteronomy/Exodus laws (which do, in fact, permit slave-holding in certain circumstances).

I think we need to be careful in terms of how we expect certain religious laws to be enacted in civil terms.

James, your comment is ludicrous. I have to exercise some restraint in replying to your comment. I am beginning to think you are a reflection of Obama.

To gather what you did from my post either means you wanted to miss the point to argue or you just did not try to understand. The Bible is the GREATEST source to guide in organizing a nations laws. Our nation was built on such a concept.

However, my POINT was that Obama is either clueless or a liar- he makes applications that are misleading, ignorant or blatantly deceitful.

And do not be deceived- everyone will be under God's laws and do things His way one day. He will reign over everything. And EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

To your main point - Obama being at best ignorant about the Bible - I agree and would include politicians from all ends of the political spectrum.

To James' point, I agree that the Christians main responsibility is NOT to use the government to legislate morality. That does not mean that we keep quiet or push what God thinks about moral issues under the rug. Yes, America was founded with a Biblical worldview as part of the foundation, but remember that those founding fathers didn't "criminalize" certain aspects...and even kept some immoral activities legal..such as slavery.

The crux of the issue is that all governments are allowed authority from God (even China's). Each person in authority is responsible to God for how they governed (the standard will be God's morality not mans). But there was only one "God ordained" government, and that was the nation of Israel.

I hope that makes sense...I feel more clarification might be needed.

Thank you DS.com for your comment. I think you have it right and agree with you about the politicians being off from every side (for the most part).

I pointed out BO because he was the one so blatantly twisting Scripture for his own devices.

As far as the founding fathers, very few were devoted Christians- Deism was popular and people like Ethan Allen were anti-Christian. But for the most part they respected Christianity. Even promoted it.
