"Bring Me a Real Chaplain..."
19.2.08

This is a great video. It puts the stupidity of emergent/gutless pseudo-Christianity in its place. Where would the unconverted man on death's door go for salvation?

Those false preachers such as Warren, Jakes, Hinn, Schuller, Graham, Roberts, Copeland, etc. do not offer real hope. Prosperity does not bring salvation to the lost. Psychobabble does not bring salvation. The need is what this man says,"Bring me a real chaplain, who believes in a real God and a real Hell." If it ain't real it ain't gonna save you.

Idiot Alert
14.2.08
The so-called "Relevant church" in Tampa's Ybor City is challenging married people to have sex every day for 30 days.  And unmarried couples to abstain for 30 days.  I truly  hope this is not speaking about members.  If you are in an unmarried relationship and it would be a challenge to abstain from sex for 30 days you are a God-forsaking sinner deluded by a bunch of pigs prostituting the power of the Gospel of Christ.

Also, what about during the woman's period?  That is a time I WILL NOT be that type of intimate with my dear wife.  Affection does not always necessitate sex.

TIMOTHY PUGH: A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING
27.6.07
An open letter to any readers of this blog: in the past (2005), we met Timothy Pugh from North Carolina believing him to be a brother in Christ who cherished the Word of God. I invited him to visit for a few days. As he was preparing to make the journey he informed me that he was planning to stay in Florida. His "few days" became much longer, until we had to "evict" him. He ended up causing some division between us and our dear friends and ministry partners with lies, pretty words and flatteries.

In 2005, he moved to Brazil under many false pretenses and married a friend of my wife. He had attempted to be a part of Faith Missions (a ministry we were affiliated with through a Mission.Brasil partnership) and was given several tasks to complete over the period of about six months. He did not complete anything he was charged to do. He was supposed to work toward ordination through Faith Missions, but he left before any of that happened. It should be noted that Timothy Pugh has a history of not completing anything. By his own report he never had a job for very long.

Timothy has proven to be self-serving and dishonest with a lot of flowery words and a knowledge of Scripture, but no evidence of ever applying that Scripture. Apply this Scripture to him:
For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.
(Philippians 3.18-19 ESV)

Also: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." (Matthew 7.15 ESV)

The point of this post: Timothy has a habit of throwing names of who he knows around as he recently did with our dear friends and ministry partners (formerly with Faith Missions) while trying to beg for money and "resources." If anyone is contacted by Timothy Pugh with a request for money -or anything else- do your research and check his references. They will probably be less supportive of him than he claims they are.

UPDATE: Just found him online and he claims to be a "pastor." He is unqualified and claims his education as "courses at DCCC, WWC and PBC in NC, USA." No degree, because he has never finished anything in his life.

Heretic Highlight: TD Jakes
25.1.07
We will start with this:
"God--There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three Manifestations: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." --The Potter's House (TD Jakes) Belief Statement

And we continue to his Doctrinal Statement page:
"THREE DIMENSIONS OF ONE GOD (1 John 5:7; Matthew 28:19; 1 Tim 3:16)

We believe in one God who is eternal in His existence, Triune in His manifestation, being both Father, Son and Holy Ghost AND that He is Sovereign and Absolute in His authority.

We believe in the Father who is God Himself, Creator of the universe. (Gen 1:1; John 1:1)

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (Col 2:9)

He suffered, died, was buried, and rose from the dead for our total salvation (Luke 3:21-22; Philippians 2:5-11).

We believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 3:36; John 3:31-32; John 14:6).

We believe in the Holy Spirit who is God indwelling, empowering and regenerating the believer. This Holy Spirit is called the Comforter. The Spirit of Truth (John 14:17, 14:26)

Okay I highlighted some things above that show TD Jakes' lack of orthodoxy in His misunderstanding of Who God is. He disguises it in careful wording, but is it heresy all the same.

Here is a Biblical position concerning the nature of God (From the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message, Southern Baptist Convention):

"II. God

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

A. God the Father

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

Genesis 1:1; 2:7; Exodus 3:14; 6:2-3; 15:11ff.; 20:1ff.; Leviticus 22:2; Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:6; 1 Chronicles 29:10; Psalm 19:1-3; Isaiah 43:3,15; 64:8; Jeremiah 10:10; 17:13; Matthew 6:9ff.; 7:11; 23:9; 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; John 4:24; 5:26; 14:6-13; 17:1-8; Acts 1:7; Romans 8:14-15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 4:6; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 11:6; 12:9; 1 Peter 1:17; 1 John 5:7.

B. God the Son

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

Genesis 18:1ff.; Psalms 2:7ff.; 110:1ff.; Isaiah 7:14; 53; Matthew 1:18-23; 3:17; 8:29; 11:27; 14:33; 16:16,27; 17:5; 27; 28:1-6,19; Mark 1:1; 3:11; Luke 1:35; 4:41; 22:70; 24:46; John 1:1-18,29; 10:30,38; 11:25-27; 12:44-50; 14:7-11; 16:15-16,28; 17:1-5, 21-22; 20:1-20,28; Acts 1:9; 2:22-24; 7:55-56; 9:4-5,20; Romans 1:3-4; 3:23-26; 5:6-21; 8:1-3,34; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:30; 2:2; 8:6; 15:1-8,24-28; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; 8:9; Galatians 4:4-5; Ephesians 1:20; 3:11; 4:7-10; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:13-22; 2:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; 3:16; Titus 2:13-14; Hebrews 1:1-3; 4:14-15; 7:14-28; 9:12-15,24-28; 12:2; 13:8; 1 Peter 2:21-25; 3:22; 1 John 1:7-9; 3:2; 4:14-15; 5:9; 2 John 7-9; Revelation 1:13-16; 5:9-14; 12:10-11; 13:8; 19:16.

C. God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

Genesis 1:2; Judges 14:6; Job 26:13; Psalms 51:11; 139:7ff.; Isaiah 61:1-3; Joel 2:28-32; Matthew 1:18; 3:16; 4:1; 12:28-32; 28:19; Mark 1:10,12; Luke 1:35; 4:1,18-19; 11:13; 12:12; 24:49; John 4:24; 14:16-17,26; 15:26; 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4,38; 4:31; 5:3; 6:3; 7:55; 8:17,39; 10:44; 13:2; 15:28; 16:6; 19:1-6; Romans 8:9-11,14-16,26-27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14; 3:16; 12:3-11,13; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; 5:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; 1 Timothy 3:16; 4:1; 2 Timothy 1:14; 3:16; Hebrews 9:8,14; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 John 4:13; 5:6-7; Revelation 1:10; 22:17."

Although T.D. Jakes is the darling of many on so-called Christian television, he falls short of the core Christian doctrines.

He is even being courted by some of the Southern Baptist Convention's more popular pastors and leaders. Even SBC President Frank Page is noncommittal about either embracing Jakes or standing against his heresy. (See Apprising Ministries post including a response to Pastor Ken Silva from Dr. Page: http://www.apprising.org/archives/2007/01/an_indepth_anal.html)

He is a favorite of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (which should really be grilled on why they have the name but do not hold to the belief) and his books are selling like hotcakes. Smut sells I guess.

Count me as in opposition to T.D. Jakes.

Benny Hinn: False Prophet Extrodinaire
29.1.06
Benny Hinn's heresies are extremely dangerous due to his god-like status to many Pentecostals and Charismatics. He makes off-the-wall statements that are accepted by the TBN crowd. Many will not accept any questioning of Hinn's teachings or "prophecies" without making some kind "do not touch the Lord's anointed" threat.

I have lost "friends" over opposing Mr. Hinn's teachings of anti-Christ. As I watch him on television (I can't watch for very long), I wonder how anyone takes him seriously. Why do people need fantasy and entertainment? God isn't exciting enough for them? Well, maybe if they get saved and evangelize, they will find adventure (like Rand does on Friday nights) or like Paul did- through beatings and persecutions!

The Bible is clear for us:
"If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing." (1 Timothy 6:3-4 NIV)

With that in mind, let's take a look at some of Hinn's errors:

FALSE TEACHINGS:
  • "Never, ever, ever go to the Lord and say, 'If it be thy will';
  • No Christian should ever be sick;
  • We Christians possess 'power in our mouths' to heal or kill just as witches possess it;
  • Job tapped into the negative side of the faith force by a negative confession;
  • Christ 'became one with the nature of Satan' and was 'born again' in hell;
  • Christ would have sinned without the Holy Spirit and would have remained in the grave 'if the Holy Ghost had changed His mind about raising Him from the dead' [Jesus said, 'I have power to lay down my life and I have power to take it again' (Jn 10:18) for He is God]
  • We are 'little gods' and even part of God with all the power of God
  • We are 'little messiahs,' everything that Jesus ever was."
    (Source: Biblical Discernment Ministries)

    FALSE PROPHECIES:
  • Syria and Israel would sign a peace treaty before the Syrian king died (He died without a treaty)See Clip 1 below
  • Fidel Castro would die in the 1990's (He's still alive)See Clip 2 below
  • Jesus would appear physically on the stage with Benny Hinn (against the Bible's teachings) See Clip 3 below
  • The homosexual community would be destroyed in the 1990's (Did not happen)See Clip 4 below
  • Two giants of the faith would pass away and a great move of God would occur- like never seen before (I personally heard Hinn say this at a "Crusade" in Tampa, FL in 1991)

    SOUND CLIPS:
    (Download the mp3 files below)
Benny Hinn Clip #1 Benny Hinn Clip #2 Benny Hinn Clip #3 Benny Hinn Clip #4

    MORE ERRORS:
  • “Yes. The glory of God is going to visit His mighty church. Yes Lord. Three and a half months from now a great event is going to take place in the world, followed by a mighty move of God in the church. Three and a half months from now something is going to happen in this world: headline news, you'll know it. I will not tell you what I see. You'll just know it, and something mighty will follow in the Spirit. God, the Holy Ghost, is saying to His church - Watch Israel. Watch my people Israel. You will know as you read the scriptures and watch Israel. 'For the days are short' says the Lord. 'The days ahead are evil' says the Lord, 'but I have reserved a place for my people, a place of safety, a place of protection.'“ (Benny Hinn, December 29th, 2002)(This was unfulfilled- a false prophecy)
  • On 12/30/02 explaining on “ the 18th of December at 2 am I awakened to a prophecy ringing in my heart. I was hearing myself prophesy. ... Jeremiah the prophet said that when the Spirit of God came upon him, when the word of the Lord came upon him, it was as fire came into his being. And he could not hold the prophesy. When the Word of the Lord is given to you, you'll prophesy even if you're alone in that place. And so I felt as though my mouth was about to burst with this prophesy. But what I heard was frightening. That was on Wednesday. Thursday morning at 2 am in fact. And now I'm hearing the words “Rivers of blood, rivers of blood.” And the Lord revealed to me what's coming in the next few days and weeks with this war with Iraq. (This was also unfulfilled- a false prophecy)

    The Bible is clear:

  • Ezekiel 13:8 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,' says the Lord GOD.”" (NKJV)
  • "How long, O you sons of men, will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness and seek falsehood? Selah" (Psalm 4.2 NKJV)
  • "The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace." (Proverbs 13.5 NIV)
  • "Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, "You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place."'And the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, "Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--"By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!" (Jeremiah 14:13-15 NKJV)
  • "How shall I console you? To what shall I liken you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What shall I compare with you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your ruin is spread wide as the sea; Who can heal you? Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity,to bring back your captives, but have envisioned for you false prophecies and delusions." (Lamentations 2:13-14 NKJV)
  • Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The LORD declares," when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled. (Ezekiel 13.6 NIV)
  • Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. (Matthew 7.15 NIV)
  • For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible. (Matthew 24.24 NIV) This refutes the use of "miracles" as proof of Hinn's integrity- the Bible tells us that there will be very convincing false miracles and signs that could deceive the elect if it possible.
  • But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves. (I Peter 2.1 NIV)
  • Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (I John 4.1 NIV)

  • To Sum it up:
What we see in Benny Hinn in a false teacher and a false prophet. Unfortunately, many in the Charismatic and Pentecostal communities accept him for anything he says. They do not hold his "prophecies" and "teachings" up to the Word of God, and thus fall into serious error. This is not an exhaustive list. I could have spoken about the Triune God being a trinity of trinities (or as Hinn clarified, "there's nine of 'em"). And there's so much more. In his quest to be exciting, Hinn leaves the Word of God behind.

Hinn is a heretic. He is a false prophet who should not be feared. ("You may say to yourselves, 'How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?' If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." -Deuteronomy 18.21-22 NIV)

Convictions vs. Those Who Should Be Convicted
    18.1.06
I have been watching a DVD about Benny Hinn and the "TBN Family" and am just sick of them all. They are a bunch of thieving, lying, hucksters who should be sent to prison. They will one day pay for their outrageous statements and highjinks, I know they will be held accountable. My prayer is that they repent and use their resources (ill-gotten as they are) for God's Kingdom- and that Jan Crouch gets a new hairstylist!

Such shameless promotion of selfishness and greed, along with the heartless destruction of peoples' hopes for healing. I guess it is less expensive than a trip to Lourdes and a Romanist blessing. (And you don't have to donote your young boys to the service of the "priests.")

Why can't these immoral defalcators just do what the Bible says or sell used cars? The pulpit comes with a charge and a warning:

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2 Timothy 4.1-5 NASB)

We all know that these men and women would not be as wealthy without bilking people- especially the poor and naive? However, they will be found wanting after they pass from this earth (lest they repent).
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. (Proverbs 28.13 KJV)

I look forward to moving into the Amazon. I will be going to where electricity is scarce. This prosperity pseudo-gospel has reached there as well, but is less ingrained. I look forward to going there with just the Gospel, no fringes and I will aim to be to the point and uncompromising in preaching Christ and Him crucified.
For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1.22-24 NASB)

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2.1-2 NASB)

May my family and I glorify our Lord and Savior with our lives and His message. Amen.

    Benny Hinn Protested in India
    10.2.05
The CharismaNOW article states that Hindu priests protested "because they feared conversions would take place." Well, judging from the heretical nature of Benny Hinn's so-called "ministry," they have nothing to fear, unfortunately.

If anyone gets saved at a Benny Hinn show it is in spite of Hinn, not because of Hinn. I wish he would leave the preaching in India to Gospel for Asia.

    More on Benny Hinn
    3.2.05
His Statement of faith does not seem to support the Triune nature of God: read it for yourself:
We believe the one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed "I AM" and has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association, i.e., Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Something is missing. What does "revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association, i.e., Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" really mean? My guess is that the false prophet who once told us there was "nine of 'em" in reference to the Trinity wants to fit in with United Pentecostal theology of modalism (updated to "Jesus only")- a God who does not fit a Triune description.

I intend to address this in the future. Some might be surprised at the popular "preachers" who espouse this today. And the defenders often say that "doctrine" is unimportant. Paul disagreed:
  • "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." (I Timothy 4.16 NIV)
  • "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (II Timothy 4.3 NIV)
  • "He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it." (Titus 1.9 NIV)
